condition: ConstantStruggle=true ();

The last day of the project and it's been a long and tiresome day. We've been struggling with the Action Script from morning to late night. Nelson got more gloves from our sponsor "Hestra" and they'r mighty fine. He also got the results back from the apple-doctor, bad case of hard drive failure.

We made the intro part of the game and trying to connect it to the action script with zero progress. Me and Nelson are heading to my place to pick up the speakers and subwoofer. Yeah, and by the way, we got a monitor, thanks to the DM10Sto class. A small but useful 32" Samsung LCD. I know I sound bitter, but I'm not, it's better then a 24" computer monitor.

The time is now 5:30 PM and we're all very tired of not getting that breakthrough on the Action Script. Peter and Nelson are starting on the project report right now, while me and Anna continue struggling with Flash.

Now when I look back on all this, I can surely say that we should have spent more time on searching for sponsors. But we're grateful for all the gloves Hestra gave us, quality stuff!

So with these words:

if(we.MakeIt = No.Sleep);

eventListener.WiiGlove: is totaly cool. ();

End note.

Peace out

Actionscript...

Today we started of with working over at Christoffers place. We tried out the prototype on his TV with semi good result.
We planned the interface and put together a nice background for the game. The background consists of all the different illustrations that we have made for the game and it actually turned out pretty sweet.
Nelson hooked up a new prototype glove with a better button and we really want to go for that type of button for the final glove.
Besides that we have spent alot of time on trying to get actionsscript to do what we want. Unfortunatly that was alot of time spent without any real progress.
The isssue we are having is that the scene is not playing the whole movie clip animations just the sound in them and seems that the only thing we can do is leave it for now and have another go tomorrow with fresh eyes and rested brains.
So tomorrow is the lastday that we have to work and we have alittle stuff to sort out. The main issue being that we still dont have a TV screen that we can use and also we need to perfect the actionsscript so that we can get the end result that we want to achieve and also really deserve.
We also want to get the whiteleather gloves up running so that we have the coolest gloves for our game.

So until tomorrow...

bad day good day

First of all, Happy Birthday Nelson and Happy Birthday Christoffer!

Ok....so Nelsons computer crashed last night..... and of course we didn't do any back up yesterday so everything that I had worked on (I was working on his comupter cause I don't have cs4 on mine cause my computer is old and shitty) was gone. Just like that. So annoying. It's all good now tho, no worries. I had to re-do everything I did yesterday and Niklas - the tech-master helpted me out a bit with my actionscript. We're back on track.

We also tried the game with the Wii glove and it worked! We're so proud and so happy. We filmed it so we can send the it to the store that sponsor us with gloves - now we just need one of those shiny white leather gloves.

We still have a lot to do before the exhibition. We're not done with the interface of the game and we still need to add a timer...

Small World Mondays

Tomorrow, October 20, is a special day. It is the day Chris and myself celebrate our births. We were discussing how strange it is that we are in the same group and share a birthday when things started getting weird. It turns out Peter and Anna also share a birthday.
In non birthday news, we have a working Wii glove

Yeah, thats a knife.

End Of Week Numero Dos...

Sooo one week left until deadline, that means its going to be alot of work... Today we nearly finished the pop art illustrations we only have a few left. So that means that this weekend and next week will be packed with animation to get the final experience as great as possible.

Nelson got some more gloves and is doing a great job with the building and testing of different glove prototypes and also got us sponorship on the gloves.

Today we did small presentations of our idea and it was really encouraging since people like the concept and the idea. That was big boost to keep on working.

Begining of next week we will finalize the animations and start working on putting this whole thing together. And aslo hopefully get the amazing white leather wiizer glove that we all are longing for and also we need to figure out how we will sort out the projector or big ass TV situation.

But now its time for some well earned rest, atleast for a few hours.

YAY!

The last couple of days has been a pain in the ass. I haven't been kicking it at all. It's been so frustrating and I actually cried last night when I got home - I'm sucha wuss!
Today, an angel called Cas (IAD10) came flying and helped me big time and made my day. He's like the master of all masters and I wish that some day I will become one too!

Super week two!

Fresh new start! After having slight problems last week we finally got together and had a monday meeting. We arranged all the task for the week and went from there. Anna is still kicking it Action Script 3 and making serious progress. I've been sitting with After Effects and Illustrator making graphics for the game, so did Peter who was home sick today. He really surprised me with his artwork, he is a pure talent for pop-art graphics!

Nelson, our tech-manager has been pulling strings to get the actual Wii glove sponsored, and it's seams that it paid off! I don't know the name of the company, but we'll update that when we get the first beta-pair :) Hopefully we'll get the prototype ready before thursday and start making the real deal the same day. We're in to our second week and no haven't got any problems within the group, and it feels good! :D

Tomorrow is a new day with more coding and graphic designing. Wiizers for the win!

End Of Week Numero Uno...

So, this is the end of the first whole week we had to work. Its been a week filled with research, idea development, prototypes, presentations and alot more...
Yesterday I chopped up the track that we will use for our project into small pieces. So today we started to plan out the graphic look for all the diffrent words that will pop-up in our game and decided on colors and the style and feel we are aiming for.
Nelson went and bought some gloves to start to build the amazing wiizer gloves that are soon to be a smash hit.
Anna worked hard on the actionscript and told us that she had a real break-through in process last night.

So this weekend we will be fully focused on our tasks and then join our forces on monday for continued development.

Have great weekend!

This week has been very full of new experiences. My roll in the group has been handling the creation of new hardware. Earlier in the week we purchased a soldering gun, an assortment of switches and some bouncer balls. Several burns later we have 2 infrared pens, a broken ball and a prototype sensor for the wii glove. I am getting the hang of the soldering, I have been burn free for 2 days. Today we presented to Sid Lee. They liked our idea but let us know it is important to have a plan to follow, so we stay on track. Christopher put together this sweet video in after effects.

bouncy ball...? bouncing ball....? bouncer ball!

I'm trying to learn Actionscript 3 and it's harder than i thought. I've watched a bunch of pretty good tutorials but that takes forever! It's exhausting and it bores me out at the moment!

Christoffer just uploaded a short movie of us trying out the Wiimote Whiteboard thing. Nelson and Christoffer went to the hardware store yesterday and got all the stuff that we needed. It worked out pretty well and we got a better understanding how it acctually works connecting the wiimote to the computer and using this homemade IR-pen to draw with.

Our first idea included a bouncing ball, or a "bouncer ball" as we'd like to call it. We were supposed to cut it in half and put IR light inside the ball... it didn't work out at all and the shitty bouncer ball broke. Bummer. It's not the end of the world tho cause we have this other idea which is even better...

New Logo

New logotype!

Sketch!

This is the sketch for the one ideas we had of a generative music concept.
It involves a LED ball that bounces on the floor, leaving a "blooming-effect" and sound. We got the idea from a Iphone app called "Bloom".

We'll keep you updated!

This is some heavy shit, listening to Bloom on the iTouch :p
